On September 17, 2025, the China ASEAN Industry Ministers Roundtable was held in Nanning, Guangxi, presided over by Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng. This conference is the first ministerial level meeting between China and ASEAN in the industrial field, with the theme of "strengthening the alignment of development strategies, achieving win-win industrial cooperation, and working together to build a closer China ASEAN community with a shared future". Ministerial officials and high-level representatives from the industrial authorities of the ten ASEAN countries and observer countries, as well as the ASEAN Secretary General, attended the roundtable meeting and delivered speeches.
  In recent years, China has anchored the key task of achieving new industrialization and continuously injected new momentum into China ASEAN cooperation through its high-quality development. The two sides have achieved fruitful results and a solid foundation in industrial cooperation. China is willing to work with ASEAN countries to promote industrial cooperation to new heights through higher levels of openness, more collaborative mechanisms, and more pragmatic measures. One is to lead by institutional openness and create a new ecosystem of industrial integration. Support the deep participation of enterprises from various countries in the global industrial and supply chain division of labor, enabling "Made in China" and "Made in ASEAN" to achieve complementary advantages on a broader stage. The second is to build a mutually beneficial and win-win new environment supported by institutionalized collaboration. China is willing to share its practical experience in industrial policy formulation, enterprise cultivation and incubation with ASEAN countries, and jointly explore new industrial cooperation models that are in line with regional development characteristics. The third is to break through cooperation in emerging fields and explore new paths for industrial upgrading. Jointly promote the "Artificial Intelligence+" initiative, open up cross-border channels for data elements, and jointly promote the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry. The fourth is to strengthen capacity building as the core and activate new driving forces for innovative development. China is willing to actively build diverse cooperation platforms, focusing on key areas such as intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing, and high-end equipment manufacturing, cultivating a group of versatile talents, and promoting the transformation and application of scientific research achievements.
The attending parties highly praised the pragmatic cooperation between China and ASEAN in the industrial field, jointly reviewed and passed the Nanning Initiative of the China ASEAN Industry Ministers Roundtable, and unanimously agreed to strengthen industrial policy coordination and strategic docking, share practical experience, and build a regional innovation ecosystem.
During the meeting, Li Lecheng held talks with the ministers of industrial authorities from relevant ASEAN countries. Officials from relevant departments of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology attended the meeting.
As a supporting event of the conference, the China ASEAN Emerging Industries Exchange and Promotion Event was held on the same day. Nearly 300 representatives from governments, think tanks, and enterprises of China and ASEAN countries conducted in-depth exchanges and extensive discussions on cooperation in emerging industries such as new energy vehicles, new materials, and artificial intelligence.
